Thesis committee service as judging — a credential I almost didn't think to include

Served on several PhD thesis/dissertation committees over the years and initially didn't connect this to the judging criterion until someone in this community pointed out the overlap — evaluating a thesis and determining whether it meets the standard for a degree is a genuine form of judging the work of others. What made this usable as evidence: documentation of the actual committee appointments (letters or official records naming me as a committee member), and ideally some indication of the university or program's standing, similar to how any judging credential benefits from context about the selectivity or standing of the body you're judging for. If you've served on academic committees like this and hadn't thought to include it: it's worth considering, especially if your other judging evidence (peer review, competition judging) is thinner than you'd like. It's a genuinely evaluative role, documented the same rigorous way any other judging credential should be.
