An op-ed I authored — how it fit under scholarly articles

Wrote an opinion piece for a respected industry publication, distinct from a traditional scholarly article, and had to think through whether and how it fit under the authorship criterion. An op-ed is genuinely different in form from a traditional scholarly article — it's argumentative and shorter, not a traditional research paper — but the underlying question is the same: is this authored work in a legitimate professional or major trade publication. I presented it that way, with context about the publication's standing and my authorship being clear (not co-written or ghost-written), rather than trying to dress it up as something more traditionally academic than it actually was. It ended up being a smaller supporting piece of evidence rather than a centerpiece, but a legitimate, honestly-presented one — worth including if you have something like this, presented accurately for what it is rather than either oversold or left out entirely.
